Cabinet meeting to discuss on formation of new land commission

KATHMANDU: On the day Supreme Court issued a short-term interim order to the government not to implement its decision to dissolve the Land Issue Resolving Commission, the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led cabinet has started preparations for the formation of a new land commission.

According to sources, a proposal in this regard has reached the Council of Ministers.

The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation has sent a proposal to form a Land Commission to the Council of Ministers.

According to Tek Narayan Pandey, the Secretary of the Ministry of Land Management, the proposal has already been finalized and will probably be finalized by the cabinet meeting on Monday.

The government had dissolved the land issue resolving commission last week.
