UML task force reaches agreement to end intra-party dispute

Details of agreement to be public Saturday after working out the language of unity deal

KATHMANDU: The two warring factions of the CPN-UML have reached an agreement to resolve the dispute in the party.

The task force formed to work out differences was able to clinch an agreement following seven hours of continuous discussions regarding contentious issues Friday.

After the meeting ended late Friday evening, task force member Pradip Gyawali told the media that the issue of maintaining unity in the party had been resolved. “Today’s meeting was very long and intensive. We agreed to strengthen the unity of the party,” said Gyawali.

He added they have reached a consensus on outstanding issues, including the future of leaders and cadres of the CPN-UML.

He informed that another round of meetings Saturday would give a final touch to the language of the agreement.

He has urged to wait for another 18 hours before the details of the agreement are made public.
