Dr Regmi bags Science and Technology Youth Award



KATHMANDU:  Dr. Sagar Regmi has received Science and Technology Youth Award on Friday.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli conferred the award on Dr Regmi amidst a ceremony organized at Baluwar today.

Regmi has been honored with this prize for inventing a microfluidic system that helps remove cancerous blood cells.

This award, which carries a purse of Rs 75,000, is conferred annually on young scientists of the country below forty years of age in recognition of their endeavor and dedication in the field of their study.

Regmi had received the PhD degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2019.

NTU, which usually features among the top 15 universities in the world, and has been ranked the 1st among young universities in the QS World University Rankings since 2015 to April 2021.

Dr. Regmi completed undergraduate and Master degree from University of Pune, India in 2011 and 2013 respectively.

He received the general cultural scholarship scheme (GCSS) award from Indian Embassy in Kathmandu to pursue undergraduate study from University of Pune, India.
