Nepal faction says PM has until 9 am Monday to restore party committees’ status

Hinted that they will submit mass resignation if party status not restored

KATHMANDU: The Madhav Kumar Nepal faction of the CPN-UML has given an ultimatum until 9 am Monday to party Chairman and Prime Minister KP Oli to restore party committees’ status to May 16, 2018, for working together and moving ahead as one bloc.

At a press meet Sunday evening, leader Yogesh Bhattarai said, “We want to draw the attention of PM Oli towards restoring party committees’ status to May 16, 2018. We will wait until 9 am tomorrow.”

Restoring the status of party committees is the faction’s major demand with PM Oli.

When asked what Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel and UML leader Subash Nembang discussed with leader Nepal during the afternoon, Bhattarai said they did not propose anything new and urged to sit for talks. “They said let’s talk and sort out the issues among us,” he said.

The faction is adamant about restoring the party’s status to May 16, 2018.

The faction does not want to strike any deal with PM Oli unless he fulfills the demand of the Nepal faction.

If the PM does not address their demand then Bhattarai hinted that they would submit their resignations to Parliament Secretariat. The faction has postponed mass resignation for the time being.
