Lawmakers of Madhav Nepal faction likely to resign en masse

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers of CPN-UML close to the Madhav Kumar Nepal faction have decided to resign en masse rather than giving continuity to the Prime Minister KP Oli-led government.

This has frustrated PM Oli’s efforts to get the vote of confidence on May 10 from the Parliament.

Leaders of the Nepal faction made the decision at a six-hour-long meeting in Satdobato last evening on Saturday.

According to a lawmaker close to the Nepal faction, 20 lawmakers have signed a letter of resignation and handed it over to leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Meanwhile, some directly-elected lawmakers are also set to resign, according to him.

According to him, the resignation will be submitted to the Parliament Secretariat on Sunday itself.
