Prachanda and Deuba hold talks

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ held talks with Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba at the latter’s residence in Budhanilkantha.

The 20-minute talks basically focused on current political developments and the parties’ future course of action.

Prachanda rushed to meet Deuba amid speculations that the latter is mulling over forming a coalition government taking support from the political parties sans the CPN-UML.

Prachanda visited Deuba after the party’s Standing Committee decision to work out for a new government after consultation with NC and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP).

A meeting of the Maoist Center’s Standing Committee earlier today had decided to expedite talks with the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) on government formation.

All major parties in the parliament — NC, Maoist Center and JSP (sans the CPN-UML)– need to come together to form a coalition government.
