Govt preparing to bring social media operation directive

KATHMANDU: The government is preparing to bring a directive on social media operation.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung, who is also the Spokesperson of the government, said that the directive is being brought to regulate the lewd and provocative trend seen on social media.

Speaking at a press conference at the ministry on Tuesday to announce the Cabinet’s decision, Minister Gurung argued that the government was taking such steps to curb attack on democratic governance in the name of full press freedom, spreading violence, and pushing the country towards confrontation.
