Govt doles out Rs 7 billion to the Election Commission for polls

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Finance has doled out Rs 7 billion to the Election Commission for the upcoming mid-term polls.

During the mid-year review of the budget, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel said that the amount was provided as per the demand by the commission.

The government has reviewed budget the by reducing the size of the budget by Rs 130 billion from the initial allocation of the current fiscal year.

The budget size has been reduced to Rs 1.355 trillion.

The government has estimated that 91 percent of the initial target will be spent on recurrent expenditure, 80 percent on capital expenditure, and 85 percent on financial management.
