Prachanda expresses concern over PM Oli’s activism against secularism

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (Prachanda-Nepal) faction Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has suspected PM KP Oli’s commitment to secularism.

During an interaction program with the media persons of various international media on Tuesday, Chairman Prachanda asked PM Oli whether he was the Chairman of Hindu Federation.

“PM Oli has made people wonder if he has been the leader of Hindu Federation or a communist party,” Prachanda remarked in the interaction, “PM Oli’s latest speech and the activities like worshipping at Pashupati, the focus on Ayodhya and Ram temple raise questions at PM Oli’s commitment to safeguard secularism in the country.”

“We have no objection to him going to Pashupati, he can go to Pashupati, he can light the lamp, but the constitution should not be violated,” he added.

Stating that he would be elated if Ayodhya is established and developed as Ram’s birthplace, NCP Chairman Prachanda reiterated that the state should be secular and should respect the religious beliefs of the people.
