CoAS Sharma embarking on four-day India visit

KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Prabhu Ram Sharma will be leaving for New Delhi on Tuesday for an official visit to India, at the cordial invitation of India’s Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane.

A contingent of NA presented a guard of honor today to the NA Chief before the visit.

The visit commencing from November 9 will conclude on November 12.

In course of his India visit, CoAS Sharma is scheduled to be honored with the title of Honorary General of Indian Army by the President of India.

According to the NA Directorate of Public Relations, India’s President Ram Nath Kovind will present him the title on November 10.

The presentation of the title of Honorary General to the Army Chief of each country by Nepal and India remains as a unique military tradition.

The record is that the then CoAS Surendra Bahadur Shah was the first Army Chief to be presented with the title of Honorary General of the Indian Army in 2026 BS.

During the visit, Sharma will meet his Indian counterpart Naravane and other senior officials in the Indian Army.
