Madhav Nepal led Unified Socialists unites with Rai’s CPN-Unified



KATHMANDU: Newly formed CPN-Unified Socialist and CPN-Unified have agreed to unite their parties to form CPN-Unified Socialist on Friday.

Issuing a press release on Friday, both parties have informed about they have agreed to work under the same banner under the name of CPN-Unified Socialist.

However, the election symbol of the party will be changed.

According to the then CPN-United secretary Ain Bikram Kunwar, the party’s election symbol will be the pen. Earlier, the symbol belonged to the CPN-Unified.

After unification, we agreed to keep the party’s name CPN-Unified Socialist and take pen as election symbol.

Chairman of the CPN-Unified Party Jeevan Rai was formerly in the Madhav Nepal group while in CPN-UML; however, he had formed a separate party when the UML was in dispute. Rai has been made a central committee member.
