KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has finally expanded the cabinet after 88 days since the formation of the government on Friday.
“The names of the ministers have been sent to to the President’s Office. The swearing in will take place by this evening,” PM Deuba’s secretariat said.
Gajendra Hamal has been assigned of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies and Minister of State for Health Umesh Shrestha has been assigned in the same position at the Prime Minister’s Office.
Similarly, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has been given the Ministry of Communication, Information and Technology; Dilendra Badu the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Uma Regmi the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Minendra Rijal the Ministry of Defense and Umakanta Chaudhary the Ministry of Drinking Water.
Former Law Minister Karki’s portfolio has been changed. Earlier, Bal Krishna Khand was appointed the Home Minister and Dr. Narayan Khadka the Foreign Minister from the Nepali Congress (NC).
Similarly, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) has nominated Renu Yadav to be the Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Rajendra Shrestha as the Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Ram Sahay Yadav as the Minister for Forests and Environment and Pramod Sah as the Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development.
From the CPN-Unified Socialist, Ram Kumar Jhankri received the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Krishna Kumar Shrestha the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security and Prem Ale the Ministry of Urban Development.
Birodh Khatiwada has been given the charge of the Ministry of Health and Population and Bhavani Prasad Khapung has been appointed as the Minister of State for Health.
Similarly, Prime Minister Deuba has appointed Devendra Poudel of the CPN-Maoist Center as the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Shashi Shrestha as the Minister of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, and Maheshwar Gahatraj as the Minister of Youth and Sports.
Earlier, Janardan Sharma became the Finance minister and Pampha Bhusal the Energy Minister from the Maoist Center.
