Unified Socialist largest in Sudurpaschim after UML splits



KATHMANDU: After the CPN-UML split and a CPN (Unified Socialist) came into being, the Election Commission had given Tuesday evening deadline to the province and local people’s representatives to choose a new party as per the Political Parties Act.

Accordingly, 54 state assembly members have chosen the Unified Socialist, making the newly formed party the largest in Sudurpashchim Pradesh.

Similarly, it has become larger than CPN-UML in Province 2.

In Province 1, 10 out of 51 provincial lawmakers have chosen the Unified Socialist. Similarly, 182 local level people’s representatives from 13 districts of Province 1 have chosen the new party led by Madhav Nepal.
