KATHMANDU: Heavy rain is expected in the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding its areas tonight.

There is a possibility of heavy rain in the Valley for some time at night due to the low-pressure monsoon system, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).

According to the MFD, the low-pressure system locating in Madhya Pradesh of India has an impact on Nepal. Due to the same system, the settlements near the Bagmati River were inundated due to heavy rains in the Kathmandu Valley last Sunday night. Further, the monsoon low pressure line is close to the average point, i.e., south of the Terai.

The Division has forecast light to moderate rain amidst thunderstorms in many parts of the country in the afternoon. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Gandaki, Karnali and one or two places in Sudurpashchim.

At night, heavy rain is likely in one or two places of Bagmati, including the Kathmandu Valley.

Similarly, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in most parts of the country. Heavy rains are expected in Gandaki, Karnali and one or two places in Surdurpashchim.

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in some places across the country. There is a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places in Bagmati Pradesh.
