Kathmandu valley witnesses 951 new cases of coronavirus in 24 hours

KATHMANDU: With 951 new cases of coronavirus infection in past 24 hours, Kathmandu valley has seen the surge in the pandemic cases again.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 740 people have been infected with COVID-19 in Kathmandu, 56 in Bhaktapur and 155 in Lalitpur.

Earlier, the capital valley had seen 910 on Saturday, 701 coronavirus cases on Friday, and 1,075 on Thursday.

The country recorded a total of 2,548 new cases of coronavirus while 2,029 infected patients recovered in the past 24 hours.

Of the confirmed cases, 2,137 were detected through RT-PCR method and 411 from antigen-method.

There had been 12,378 tests carried out in past 24 hours out of which 9,033 were RT-PCR tests and 3,345 were antigen.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, altogether 55 infected patients died of the infection in the past 24 hours. With the recent death toll, total deaths caused due to COVID-19 reached 10,093 in the country.
