Two persons including infant killed in rain-triggered incidents



TANAHU: A woman of Rishing Rural Municipality-7, Dadhiban in Tanahu district was killed in a landslide here this morning.

The woman, about 52-year- old Devisara Thapa, was buried to death in landslide debris while escaping from the house. Her house was buried in landslide.

According to ward member Yam Saru, however, her husband escaped unhurt from the incident.

Saru added that another local aged 40, Khum Bahadur Thapa, is missing in the landslide in Majhkot of the same rural municipality. He added that other houses in the locality are at high risk of landslides there.

Similarly, some houses and school building are in landslide risk in Rishing-5 Ramjakot as well.

Man swept away by river

Meanwhile, a local Mait Nepali of Myagde Rural Municipality-4 in the district is swept away by a local river.

Forty year old Nepali was swept away by the Myagde River while he was crossing the river. Incessant rainfall since Wednesday night is causing huge damage in different parts of the district.

In a separate incident in Dang district of Lumbini province, a three months old girl died when a wall of the house collapsed due to incessant rain on Wednesday night.

She is the daughter of 30-year-old Manisha Chaudhary of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City-17, police said.

Chaudhary and her elder daughter, nine-year-old Batuli, were injured in the wall collapse incident.

The mother and daughter are being treated at the Rapti Academy of Health Sciences in Ghorahi.
