Personal vehicles of Mayor and NC leader serving as ambulance in Biratnagar



KATHMANDU: Mayor Bhim Parajuli and Nepali Congress (NC) acting President Arun Neupane of Biratnagar Metropolitan City have provided their personal vehicles for transporting COVID-19 infected persons to hospitals.

Though the metropolis has been running an ambulance dedicated to COVID-19 infected residents, the two leaders gave their vehicles in view of the soaring number of cases in the metropolis and for assisting metropolis residents.

Mayor Parajuli’s Toyota Fortuner and Neupane’s Mahindra XUV are being run as ambulances in the metropolis from Friday. Biratnagar Metropolitan Police Inspector Rajan Poudel has taken responsibility for the vehicles. It is decided that the metropolis will bear fuel expense and vehicle owners will provide drivers’ wage.

A total of 363 people, including 171 men and 192 women, were infected in Biratnagar Metropolitan City on Friday.

Haider Ali, coordinator of Covid-19 in the metropolis, informed that the infection has been confirmed in 2,547 people so far.
