EC holds discussions with Health Ministry on health protocol for polls



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission on Friday held discussions with the officials of the Ministry of Health regarding the health protocol to be applied in different stages of the upcoming election to the House of Representatives (HoR).

Election Commission’s Spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha said that the discussions centered on preparing health security procedures and a set of rules targeting the HoR elections.

The government has already announced the HoR elections dates for April 30 and May 10.

Meanwhile, the EC has requested the ministries including the Ministry of Home to direct the district voting station and voting center recommendation committee to complete their assigned responsibilities in time in regard to elections.

Spokesperson Shrestha said that the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, and the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation have been urged to ask their line agencies for needed assistance, cooperation, and coordination to district voting station and voting center recommendation committee.

The meeting held under the convenership of Election Commissioner Narendra Dahal saw the presence of Chief Election Commissioner and election commission, and secretaries from Ministry of Finance (revenue), Home Affairs, Land Management, Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation and Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.
