NC books 3,800 beds for representatives as 14th Gen Convention nears



KATHMANDU: With three days to go before the 14th General Convention of Nepali Congress, general convention representatives have started arriving in the Kathmandu Valley.

The Food and Lodging Committee under the General Convention Main Organizing Committee of the NC has informed that it has already booked 3,800 beds at various hotels in the Kathmandu Valley.

The Committee will arrange lodging and food for the representatives starting Thursday, informed Central Working Committee member Surendra Raj Pandey, the coordinator of the Food and Lodging Committee.

According to Pandey, hotels have been booked at Sundhara, Thamel and Gaushala for the general convention representatives.

“As many as 3,800 beds have been booked so far. There are still 600 to 700 beds to be booked,” said Pandey.
Around 4,500 representatives are participating in the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress.

The general convention will last beyond December 13 if the presidential candidates failed to obtain at least 51 percent of votes.

“It is estimated that around Rs 35 million will be spent on food and lodging for the representatives. If the general convention stretched beyond December 13, an additional expenditure Rs 8 million will be required,” said Pandey.

The stage is being constructed for the general convention at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu.

The NC is holding its 14th General Convention from December 10 to 13 in the federal capital.
