Dr Mahat leaves for New Delhi leading NC delegation



KATHMANDU: A team of Nepali Congress leaders has left for New Delhi today for a five-day India visit. NC Joint General-Secretary Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat is leading the team.

The team left for New Delhi at the invitation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). NC leaders Ajay Chaurasiya and Uday Shumsher Rana are also on the team.

The leaders are scheduled to meet BJP Chairperson and leaders as well as the Minister for External Affairs of India during their visit.

Chief of the Foreign Affairs Department of BJP, Vijay Chauthaiwale, had visited Nepal a few weeks ago at the invitation of Dr Mahat. Chauthaiwale had met with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, joint general secretary Dr Mahat and leaders of different political parties including NC during his stay in Nepal.

Before leaving for New Delhi, Dr Mahat said that this visit would help further strengthen relations between NC and BJP as well as the government of Nepal and India.

He shared, “BJP leader made Nepal visit a few weeks ago and now we are heading towards India. Such exchange of visit will help in promoting mutual understanding.”
