KATHMANDU: The Nepal Motion Picture Association (NEMPA) has decided not to open the cinema halls in the country unless they get permission for 100 percent occupancy of the halls.
Informing the media about the Association’s decision, NEMPA General Secretary Ashok Sharma said on Tuesday that the task force’s decision to let the cinemas to open the hall at 50 percent occupancy was impractical.
Earlier, a few days ago, the District Administration Office, Kathmandu had decided to open the halls in the valley at 50 percent occupancy.
Although this decision was welcomed by the artists and the filmmakers, the film association has reiterated that halls cannot be opened across the country without 100 per cent occupancy.
