Petition filed at EC seeking revocation of CPN-Maoist Center’s registration

KATHMANDU: A petition has been filed with the Election Commission (EC) demanding that the registration of the CPN-Maoist Center be revoked.

Leaders, who left the Maoists and joined the CPN-UML, reached the EC on Wednesday and registered the petition.

Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal, who left the Maoist party and joined the UML, among others filed a petition to cancel the registration of the Maoist Center.

They have demanded that the registration of the Maoists be revoked.

“Claiming that the status of the Maoist Center has been void as per the constitution and the Political Parties Act, they have filed seeking revocation of the party registration,” said Raj Kumar Shrestha, spokesperson of the EC.

He said that the application would be analyzed in the secretariat and a decision would be taken.
