In a statement issued on Monday, the faction concluded that what Oli had put forward for party unity in the proposal contradicted with the mandate of the 9th General Convention and the party constitution and the decision of the Supreme Court.

“Examining the language and points used in Chairman Oli’s statement, there is a tendency to confuse and divide others treading along the lines of deception and confusion,” the statement said.

“We appeal to all sincere leaders, cadres, members and well-wishers of the party to move forward on the path of overall unity, organization building and cooperation, without being misled by UML Chair’s proposal.”

The Nepal-Khanal faction made it clear that they want Prime Minister Oli to rescind the decision of dissolving the House of Representatives. PM and UML Chair Oli had demanded the withdrawal of the signature of Nepal faction leaders’ from a writ petition filed seeking to make Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba the Prime Minister.

The Nepal-Khanal faction’s Standing Committee meeting held Monday argued that the issue of signatures in the writ would be resolved if the decision to dissolve the House of Representatives is withdrawn.
