Any attempt to weaken the judiciary will be unforgivable: Former Judges Forum

KATHMANDU: Former Judges Forum Nepal has said that any attempt to weaken the judiciary is unforgivable.

Issuing press release on Monday, the Forum drew attention to the fact that if the court is weakened, not only the judicial system but also democracy will be weakened.

The Forum reiterated that the duty of every citizen is to strengthen the court or judicial system.

Saying that the government representing lawyer’s regard to the judiciary and the Constitutional Bench set up by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana has really drawn its concern, the Forum has warned the attorneys of the long term impacts of their deeds.

“Everyone concerned has been warned that a chaotic situation could arise if the people do not get justice for some reason,” the statement read.

The Forum has objected to the Attorney General and other lawyers representing the government spoke against the Constitutional Bench and all the judges in the Supreme Court roster.

“It is common that the legal practitioners can raise questions openly about judges in the Bench; however, it is objectionable for the government to raise questions and see those questions in the public media,” the Forum said.
