Police arrest manager of Koteshwor-based Bhatbhateni Department Store



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Sagar Gurung, the manager of Bhatbhateni Department Store in Koteshwor, on the charge of opening the store Monday afternoon.

According to Kathmandu Chief District Officer Kali Prasad Parajuli, Gurung was arrested as the grocery section was open during the daytime, in violation of restrictions in place to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.

As per the DAO’s latest directive on prohibitory orders, groceries can only stay open till 9 am.

A team led by Kathmandu Assistant Chief District Officer Umakanta Adhikari had reached the Bhatbhateni Department Store in Koteshwor following a tip-off about Bhatbhateni’s secretive operation during the prohibitory order.
