COAS Thapa delivers special address at tenure’s sunset

KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Purna Chandra Thapa has delivered a special address on Sunday as his tenure is coming to end.

COAS Thapa gave a lengthy address to senior military officers and generals as he will be soon handing over the helm of leadership of the Nepal Army.

In the program, Thapa mainly emphasized three issues.

First that he would “naturally hand over leadership.” Second, he outlined the status of implementation of ambitious plans made public in the first and second years of his tenure and thirdly, he left everybody to determine how he did in his tenure.

Thapa was of the view that civil society, media, citizens and army personnel would be better judge of works achieved during his tenure as they bore witness to it.

He stated that tried to fulfill the pre-announced priorities in a transparent manner.

There are only three months left in Thapa’s tenure. He was appointed COAS on September 9, 2018.
