Under Secretary at the federal parliament succumbs to COVID-19



KATHMANDU: An undersecretary at the Federal Parliament, Singha Durbar Kathmandu has passed away due to the coronavirus-related complications on Friday morning.

According to sources, the officer passing his time in home isolation at his home situated at Chandragiri-12 died while being rushed to the hospital for further treatment.

He had tested positive in the PCR test carried out on Wednesday.

Information official at the Parliamentary Secretariat confirmed the news and added that he passed away at around 4 am on Friday.

He was one of the three parliament staff that had tested coronavirus positive on Wednesday’s PCR tests.

Earlier, taking into consideration the forthcoming special session of the parliament commencing from May 10, the parliament had got the swabs of the lawmakers, and the office staff tested again.

Seven people including four lawmakers had tested positive against coronavirus on Wednesday.
