Police HQ takes action against high officials over financial irregularities



KATHMANDU: The Police Headquarters has taken action against two SPs and an inspector after being ensured that they committed financial irregularities.

According to police headquarters sources, SPs Rameshwar Prasad Yadav and Bimal Basnet and Inspector Meghraj Chaurasia have been taken into custody.

The sources reported that the SPs are to face demotions by five grades whereas Inspector Chaurasia is to face demotion by grades.

The police headquarters has taken action based on the probe that concluded the three had committed financial irregularities while they were at the Province Traffic Police Office, Karnali. It had lodged a complaint of extortion through drivers and bodyguards.

Previously, their suspension was soon lifted by the headquarters under the pressure of the power center.
