PM Oli calls UML leaders to Baluwatar to finalize candidacy for NA by-poll



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called CPN-UML leaders to Baluwatar to finalize a candidate for the by-election of the National Assembly of Bagmati Pradesh.

Prime Minister Oli has called an informal meeting of Standing Committee (SC) members of the party at Baluwatar to dwell on the candidacy for the by elections of the Upper House, said SC member Subas Nembang.

“Prime Minister Oli has called Standing Committee members for discussions on by-elections of the Upper House of Bagmati Pradesh. This is not an official meeting,” said Nembang.

Nembang said the meeting will finalize the candidacy for the nomination in the first hour.

Ruling UML has decided to field Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa alias Badal who defected to CPN-UML from CPN (Maoist Center).

Earlier, party Chair Oli had announced to field Thapa since he had previously won this seat in the National Assembly.

Parties are filing nominations for the by-elections of the National Assembly of Bagmati Pradesh today.

According to the Election Commission (EC), the nominations can be filed from 10 am to 4 pm at the election office in Provincial capital Hetauda.

UML has not finalized its candidate for the National Assembly by-election yet.
