One person held from TIA for smuggling 934 grams of gold from Dubai inside a rice cooker



KATHMANDU: A man has been arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu for smuggling gold in a rice cooker.

Prakash Mahara of Dhanusha was arrested by the customs office and police at the airport on Tuesday night.

Senior Superintendent of Police Rajesh Nath Bastola informed that the luggage was checked after it was found to be overweight.

“We checked and found that the weight was too much. We opened it and discover gold inside it,” he said.

According to Bastola, 934 grams of gold was recovered from him. He put 884 grams of gold in the cooker and 50 grams of rings.
