Oman bans entry of foreigners as COVID-19 cases spike

KATHMANDU: With the spike in coronavirus infections, Oman has put a ban on the entry of foreigners into the country.

A meeting of the Coronavirus Pandemic Prevention, Control and Treatment Committee of Oman held recently took a decision to this effect, said the Nepali Embassy.

According to the Embassy, the decision will come into force from Thursday noon.  With the decision, the Nepali migrant workers will also be affected.

Oman has recorded 1,206 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the caseload to 165,480. Similarly, with six new deaths, the total number of deaths has climbed to 1,728 in the country.
