NC lawmaker Thapa says SC’s Sunday verdict aggravated turmoil



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Gagan Thapa has said that Supreme Court verdict on Nepal Communist Party’s name dispute has further complicated the political turmoil in the country.

Speaking to media persons at the Federal Parliament premises in Kathmandu, NC lawmaker Thapa claimed that SC verdict has made the situation difficult adding more political and constitutional complications.

“Which party does the Speaker belong to?” Thapa asked hinting at the hitches caused by the verdict and added, “Such complications take the cases back to the court again.”

He further added that NC would come out with its formal decision after consultation in the parliamentary party soon.

NC’s line before was to wait till the NCP name row would be finished, but today’s verdict has further complicated the situation, our parliamentary party will come with a new decision soon, NC lawmaker Thapa said ahead.

He reiterated that Prime Minister KP Oli should resign at the earliest.

NC and Janata Samajbadi Party boycotted the parliament meeting today demanding the ordinances introduced unconstitutionally be repealed.
