NC obstructs House session demanding withdrawal of ordinances

KATHMANDU: Main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), has demanded immediate withdrawal of the ordinances that were supposed to be presented at the reinstated House of Representatives by the government.

“NC demanded the government to take back all the ordinances,” NC Chief Whip Bal Krishna Khand.

The party then obstructed the session when Law Minister Lila Nath Shrestha was tabling the ordinance.

NC lawmakers shouted slogans and gheraoed the rostrum demanding immediate withdrawal of the ordinance.

Earlier, the Prachanda-Nepal faction of the Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Madhav Kumar Nepal, Nepal Communist Party, has boycotted the session of the reinstated House of Representatives Sunday.

They argued that since the government has lost its validity, they would not participate in the session where the “illegitimate” government would table ordinances.

Earlier, lawmaker Bhim Rawal of the Prachanda-Nepal faction questioned the relevance of the government since the Supreme Court had annulled the Nepal Communist Party.
