EC holding meeting to sort out NCP’s authenticy row today

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) is holding a meeting to sort out the issue surrounding the authenticity of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Sunday.

The EC is initiating legal processes from today following pressures from the Prachanda-Nepal faction, said Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya.

“A meeting scheduled for today will study the document filed by Prachanda-Nepal faction and forward the case accordingly,” said Thapaliya.

The Commission has decided to expedite the case after Prachanda-Nepal faction reached the Office of the EC to claim the party’s legitimacy for the second time.

Prachanda-Nepal faction had claimed the legitimacy of the party for the second time on Friday  at a time when the EC was was under fire for dillydallying to sort out the long overdue issue.
