Four including two Chinese arrested in Kathmandu for abduction of Chinese nationals

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested four people, including two Chinese nationals, on charges of abducting two Chinese nationals from Kathmandu and taking them hostage.

According to police, Chinese nationals Lui Weiping and Li Xiaoning were abducted by four persons including two Chinese nationals from Hotel Ananda in Tilganga on December 3.

Dawa Pasang Lama of Sindhupalchowk, Bhakte Lama alias Sayeela, Chinese nationals Wu Chao and Zhang Ui were arrested for their alleged involvement in the abduction, said Kathmandu Police Chief SSP Ashok Singh.

The victims told the police that the abductors took them in a taxi to Marming in Sindhupalchowk and beat them.

The injured Chinese nationals are undergoing treatment at the Gwarko-based B&B Hospital.

A preliminary police investigation has revealed that they were abducted and beaten due to a dispute over financial transactions.
