Nepal bans poultry products from India



KATHMANDU: The Nepal government has put a ban on the import of poultry products from India after bird flu infection cases spiked in various provinces of the country.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development dispatched a letter directing the Department of Livestock Services to immediately halt the import of the poultry and poultry products to stem the spread of the flue into Nepal, said Dr Chandra Dhakal of the Department.

The bird flu infection cases have been detected in more than a dozen provinces including Kerala, Gujarat, Haryana and Bihar since the past one week.
