NC leaders of Poudel faction agree to field common candidate

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leaders from the non-establishment faction, aspiring for party presidency, agreed to field a common candidate in the central general convention on December 10-12.

With just a few days to go before NC’s general convention, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala, former General Secretary Prakashman Singh, and Central member Dr. Shekhar Koirala held discussion on Monday evening at senior leader Poudel’s resident in Bohoratar Monday evening.

The four leaders developed an understanding to field a common candidate in the meeting but who would be that one candidate has not been finalized, said a party source. The leaders agreed to declare a common candidate within the next two days.

They are giving continuity to talks, to forge consensus on the choice and are meeting again on Friday at former general secretary Singh’s residence in Chaksibari.
