NC invites West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for General Convention

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress has invited West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for General Convention scheduled to be from December 10-12.

Banerjee has accepted the invitation to be present at the Nepali Congress’ 14th National Convention in Kathmandu, where she is also likely to speak.

She has been invited to the inaugural session on December 10, a party source said.

A formal letter has been sent to the Centre for necessary permission, the official said. “The CM has accepted an invitation to speak at a program in Kathmandu on December 10,” he said.

The invitation letter was sent by Sher Bahadur Deuba, the Prime Minister of Nepal, and the President of Nepali Congress to the Chief Minister Banerjee.

The General Convention of the Nepali Congress is on December 10-12. The invitation reads, “It is our firm belief that your gracious presence will encourage us to work together in the strengthening of democracy in our region and beyond and reinforce our party-to-party relations.”
