Landslide causes damage to school



BAGLUNG: Landslide triggered by incessant rain has caused damages to a two-room building of Unique Primary School in Kathekhola rural municipality-3, Dhamja.

The landslide occurred on Sunday damaged the earthquake-resilient building that was constructed through the then District Education Office in 2071 BS.

School headmaster Manoj Kumar BK informed that the disaster has devastated a room from its foundation and partially damaged another room. The school has operated classes for grade 7 and 8. BK further shared that the damage has caused shortage of room for teaching and learning.

“We have informed the ward office about the loss and damage and are hopeful of reconstruction of the school”, headmaster BK added. The school which was facing the problems, including less number of posts has come across additional burden brought out by disaster.

As many as 107 students are studying in the school. According to the school, the students’ learning was facilitated even during the coronavirus pandemic through alternative methods including tole education. —
