KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Center) has labeled the incident of keeping a provincial lawmaker under captivity at Lumbini Chief Minister’s residence as criminal act.

Our party strongly condemns this incident.”

Lumbini Provincial lawmaker Bimala Khatri on Thursday told the media that she was held hostage against her will at Chief Minister Shankar Pokhrel’s residence for five days. She said so at a press meet held in Butwal Thursday.

The party also appealed to all to adopt and implement democratic and legal measures to save the national politics from stooping to such levels of corruption, criminalization, said Maoist Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha.

Similarly, the meeting also decided to request the government to form a high-level commission to solve the problem of disorganized settlement on the basis of the constitution and law, Shrestha added.

Likewise, the SC meeting also decided to urge the government to make public the five-party alliance presented common minimum program, which was submitted to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba earlier Friday.

Meanwhile, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ also briefed the Standing Committee (SC) on the common minimum program.
