Vaccination booths set up in all 32 wards of KMC for second dose of Vero Cell

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has set up vaccination booths in all of its 32 wards for administering the second dose of Vero Cell against COVID-19 to those aged 55 and above.

Kari Bahadur Kunwar, Chief of Department of Health in the KMC, said that those reaching to their nearest vaccine booth must bring their vaccination card of the first dose.

The beneficiary, aspiring to get the second dose of the China-made vaccine, should also compulsorily bring the electronic registration number along with the vaccination card.

Also, there should be a minimum 21 days of gap between the first and the second dose.

Hence, the beneficiaries are urged to get their second dose at least after 21 days since the first one.

All vaccine booths would remain open from 10 am to 5 pm and will run through coming Sunday.

The KMC this time has set up vaccine booths in all wards to avert overcrowding as people’s influx was higher in earlier limited designated vaccine booths.

Lack of social distancing among the beneficiaries had posed a great risk of spread of COVID-19.

Earlier, the KMC had launched vaccination drive for this targeted group from July 13 to 15 through 12 vaccine centres for first dose of Vero Cell.

The COVID-19 caseload in KMC has reached 72,644. Among the infected ones, 68,771 have already enjoyed full recovery as of now while 510 succumbed to the deadly infection till date, according to Kunwar.

The number of active COVID-19 cases currently stands at 3,363, added Kunwar.
