Second dose of Vero Cell being administered from today

KATHMANDU: The Nepal government is administering the second dose of Vero Cell across the country from today.

Those who received the first dose of Vero Cell from July 13 are being administered second dose from today, said the Department of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Population.

Preparations are underway to administer the second dose of China Vaccine to the people above 55 years after 21 days.

The second dose vaccination campaign would run till August 8. The Department urged the people to visit the vaccination stations convenient to them in Kathmandu district to receive the vaccine. A total of 42 vaccination centres have been determined for the same.

Similarly, the Department has said that those who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine have to compulsorily register their names on the website of the Health Ministry www.mohp.gov.np. The ministry will map out accordingly and arrange vaccines for the target people.

Nepal has received around 9.7 million doses of vaccine against COVID-19 so far while 2.027 million people have been fully immunized against COVID-19 while 4,254 million people have received single dose vaccine so far.

Likewise, Nepali citizens bound for foreign countries can get a digital COVID certificate (with QR Code) from National Ayurveda Research and Training Center (NARTC) in Kirtipur.

This service will gradually be extended to other districts of the country in the days ahead, said the Department of Health Services.

According to Dr. Badri Bahadur Khadka, the chief of the Health Office, Kathmandu, there are 165,000 people who have been vaccinated for the first time since July 13.

The second dose should be given within 21 days of taking the first dose.
