Hearing on HoR dissolution adjourned

KATHMANDU: The hearing on writs filed against dissolution of House of Representatives (HoR) and formation of government pursuant to Article 76 (5) has been adjourned, without entering the main issue at hand on Sunday.

The hearing could not enter the main issue after government attorneys, including Attorney General Ramesh Badal, raised questions about two judges, Deepak Kumar Karki and Ananda Mohan Bhattarai in the newly-formed Constitutional Bench comprising senior-most judges.

The Chief Justice warned government attorneys of contempt if they filed an application objecting to the formation of the Bench.

After the tea break, the Bench barred government attorneys from arguing on the Bench formation and lawyers representing Sher Bahadur Deuba alleged government attorneys of trying to dissolve the judiciary.

The hearing has adjourned as today’s discussion revolved around bench formation only.
