NEA proposes setting up isolation at Kharipati-based training center

KATHMANDU: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has urged the government to set up an isolation center at NEA’s training center at Kharipati in Bhaktapur.

Last year, the government had kept Nepalis brought from China’s Hubei province at the NEA’s training center in Kharipati for quarantine for 14 days.

NEA Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya informed that a proposal has been made to the government through the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation for the construction of the isolation center as the infrastructure of the training center can be readily used.

According to Executive Director Shakya, NEA forwarded the proposal in line with the direction of COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) to authorities to set up necessary isolation facilities to keep employees who might contract the infection.

“There are 66 rooms that can accommodate 133 beds in the building within the training center premises. There are also beds made last year. It is enough to set up 50 more beds there,” he said.

The training center is also equipped with CCTV and diesel generators for emergency power supply.

Meanwhile, the NEA has decided not to interrupt power supply to oxygen producing industries.
