Business involved in illegal activities raided, one arrested



KATHMANDU: The Department of Commerce, Supplies & Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) in coordination with police raided and sealed a Kalanki-based business Tuesday.

The raid was carried out on Habib Kala Kokila Henaz, which was found conducting unauthorized activities. The business had been operating since its registration in 2008 and dealt with production, storage and distribution of beauty products.

The business was sealed in violation of Consumer Protection Act, 2018. It had been using foreign labels and trademarks in its mehendi and other beauty products. It also used unverified, harmful chemicals in its products that are potentially hazardous to human health.

The raid was carried out acting on a tip-off and one person was arrested, said Shiva Raj Shedain, spokesperson for the consumer protection department.
