Maoist Center taking action against its Ministers in Oli-govt

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center is preparing to take action against five ministers, including Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ for breaching the party discipline.

According to sources, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatt, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Urban Development Minister Prabhu Sah and Labor, Employment and Social Security Minister Gauri Shankar Chaudhary are going to face music soon for not abiding party directives.

Maoist Center had asked its ministers in the Prime Minister KP Oli’s government to explain why they should be spared from disciplinary action. However, they failed to respond within the stipulated deadline.

“The party has prepared letters of action against the ministers. Their posts of lawmakers and the party membership both will be revoked,” a source close to Maoist Center said, adding, “Most probably the letters will be sent to them today.”

Minister duo Thapa and Bhatt were in the Oli-led government representing Maoist Center whereas Ministers Rayamajhi, Sah and Chaudhary had joined the government after PM Oli recommended the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

Of the five ministers, Home Minister Thapa is a member of the National Assembly and the rest are members of the House of Representatives.
