Nepali Congress is committed to national interest: Dr. Mahat

BIRGUNJ: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat has stated that though the mid-term elections were a good opportunity for the party to come to power, the party has opted to protest against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) due to its commitment for democracy and constitutionalism.

Addressing a protest rally organized by the party in Birgunj, NC leader Dr. Mahat remarked that NC is committed to the national interest and not the party interest hence, the party has decided to protest against the dissolution though the mid-term would make the party the largest party in the election.

“Although many are commenting that the dissolution of the HoR will benefit the NC as the party can get a good majority in the election,” Dr. Mahat told in the program, “We have decided to go demand the restoration of the HoR for constitutionalism and democracy.”

He also accused the government of creating a political crisis in the country by dissolving the HoR.
