Justice Karki announces recusing Constitutional Bench

KATHMANDU: Justice Hari Krishna Karki has decided to recuse himself from Constitutional Bench formed to hear the case against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

Karki decided not to sit in the bench after legal practitioners raised questions about his presence in the bench.

Senior advocates Shambhu Thapa, Mukti Pradhan, Krishna Prasad Bhandari, and others had questioned the presence of Karki in the five-member Constitutional Bench.

After that, Karki announced that he would not sit in the bench.

The apex court stated that the case will be heard in the bench and another Justice will be added.

Karki was the Attorney General during PM KP Oli’s first term as Prime Minister. Prime Minister Oli is one of the defendants in the case.
