Cold cripples Humla as mercury dips to 8 degree



HUMLA:  The normal life in Humla has been brought to a grinding halt after the temperature went down to minus 8 degree Celsius.

The day-to-day life of people in Northern part of Namkha rural municipality and district headquarters Simkot has been crippled due to steep fall in the temperature following the heavy snowfall.

The snow had fallen in highlands of Humla district including Simkot and Namkha since Sunday afternoon, affecting the normal life of the people.

 

With the sudden change in climate, the mercury in the district has plummeted to minus 8 degree Celsius.

Vehicles have stayed off the road due to thick snowfall. People are forced to stay indoors while government and non-government organizations have been badly affected due to the cold temperature. All the roads, roofs of houses and trees have been been covered in snow.
