Election result should be accepted by all: RPP’s ex-chair Rana

KATHMANDU: Former Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Pashupati Shumsher Rana has remarked that the election result should be accepted by all.

The counting of votes, cast in the RPP general convention, that concluded Sunday selected the party’s new working committee under the leadership of Chair Rajendra Lingden.

Meanwhile, former RPP Chairman Kamal Thapa, who vied for re-election and got defeated, accused former king Gyanendra Shah of interfering in the unity general convention and even boycotted the swearing in ceremony of the party’s new executive committee.

RPP’s ex-chair Rana recalled saying ‘if there is an election, everyone should accept the result’ as he emphasized consensus in the course of the general convention. He added, “I accept the result, and I urge all my friends to accept it.”

Earlier during the voting, Rana had implied that he was not in favor of handing over leadership to immature candidate, referring to Lingden. Regarding this recent  remark, stating that opinions about generational transfer of leadership differed from individuals to individuals, Rana said, “The general convention delegates have decided that the transfer should be done now. The decision of the delegates is welcomed.”
